The India vs Pakistan cricket rivalry is one of the most intense sports rivalries in the world. The Ind vs Pak rivalry had many memorable and historic matches over the history of cricket. When Venkatesh Prasad sends off Aamir Sohail during Ind vs Pak match in World Cup 1996, remains one of the memorable moment and still etched in the minds of millions of cricket fans. Another moment is when Pakistani cricketer Javed Milandad hit a six on the last ball to win the match for Pakistan against India. Some of the thrilling matches of Ind vs Pak are ICC T20 World Cup 2007 finals, ICC World Cup 2011 Ind vs Pak semi-finals, ICC Champions Trophy Ind vs Pak 2017 finals. Due to the strained relationship between the two countries, India and Pakistan have not played any series against each other in 8 years. They face each other only in the ICC tournaments. The last series they played was when Pakistan visited India for 2 T20is & 3 ODIs in 2012. So Shoaib Malik feels that the world needs the Ind vs Pak rivalry to resume.

Shoaib Malik told that,"I think world badly needs this rivalry to resume, in the same way that world cricket needs the Ashes. Could England & Australia imagine Test cricket without an Ashes series? Both series are played with the same kind of passion and have such a great history, so it is a shame that we don't play right now."

The 38-year-old Pakistani all-rounder further said that,"Also I have Pakistani friends who love to talk about Indian cricketers with respect and admiration. Similarly, I and my Pakistan teammates are given such love and support when we play in India so it is a rivalry that I would like to see return as soon as it is possible."

Shoaib Malik further recalled about his favorite memories playing against India. He said that,"From a personal point of view the 2009 Champions Trophy match at Centurion when I was Man of the Match after scoring 128 and the Asia cup match in Sri Lanka where I scored 143 from 127 balls and took the wickets of Sachin Tendulkar & Yuvraj Singh are great memories."

"But I also enjoyed the one-off ODI in Kolkata in 2004 when we chased 293 win. It was a day before Eid and the atmosphere inside Eden Gardens in that floodlit match was incredible," he added.
