The Australian franchise T20 league will be having 61 matches as per the schedule announced by the Cricket Australia (CA). It will begin from December 3 this year with the opening match between Adelaide Strikers and Renegades at the Adelaide Oval. The franchise league will begin on the same day as the India vs Australia Test (2020) also begins on December 3. The BBL (2020) opening match will be started after the end of day one of the Test match of India vs Australia at Brisbane. The finals has been set for February 6 next year.
"While the COVID-19 pandemic may yet force alterations to the summer of cricket, today's announcement confirms the commitment to a full 61-game schedule, including the return of the five-team finals format," the Cricket Australia said in a statement on its website.
BBL 2020 Schedule
The BBL also released the fixtures of BBL 2020 on Wednesday on Twitter. They said that,"There's more important things in the world than cricket right now, but here's how we'd love to see the summer of BBL unfold. Stay safe and healthy every one."

According to the BBL schedule 2020, they will be taking a five days break as there will be day-night test between India & Australia from December 11-15 at Adelaide Oval. As the BBL schedule is also coinciding with Test series, they decided to not to have matches for that five days.
WBBL 2020 Schedule
The Women's BBL will be played from October 17 to November 29. Fixtures of WBBL 2020 was also released on Wednesday by the Cricket Australia.

Alistair Dobson, Head of Cricket Australia of Big Bash leagues have said that challenging COVID-19 environment will be monitored continuously. "We must remain vigilant and agile in responding to the COVID-19 situation as it develops and we will continue to work with all relevant federal and state government agencies, bio-security experts, venues, clubs, players, broadcast partners and our own internal terms to ensure a safe and successful summer," he said.
"We'll continue to act in accordance with public health advice and government protocols to ensure the safety of the public, players and support staff," he added.
The star players like Steve Smith, David Warner & Pat Cummins won't be the part of BBL 2020 as it is clashing with India vs Australia series, the players will be playing for the nation.
