HBD 'Thala': MS Dhoni celebrates his 39th Birthday

The former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni turns 39 today & wishes pouring in from all over the world such as the sports men, cricket experts as well as cricket fans. He is regarded as one of the greatest captain in the history of cricket. He is a middle order right-handed batsman & wicket-keeper, he is one of the highest run scorers in ODIs with more than 10,000 runs & considered one of the greatest finisher in the limited overs format.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni was born on July 7, 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkand. Initially Dhoni was excelled in football & was goal-keeper for his team. But then his football coach sent him to play cricket for a local cricket club. Though he doesn't know to play cricket, he was impressed with his wicket-keeping skills & became a regular wicket-keeper for the team & his batting skills were also aggressive.

MS Dhoni made his ODI debut on December 2004 against Bangladesh & Test debut against Sri Lanka, a year later. However by his performance over the years, he was also given the responsibility of leading the Indian cricket team for the inaugural ICC World Twenty20 held in South Africa in 2007. India were crowned champions as Dhoni led the team to win a thrilling finals against Pakistan. Then later he also named as captain for ODI team & while Anil Kumble was injured & announced his retirement, Dhoni led the India team in Test also. Under his captaincy, Indian team reached No.1 Position in the ICC Test rankings for the first time in 2009.

Dhoni led the Indian team to win the ICC World Cup 2011 after 28 years, with his match winning knock of unbeaten 91 against Sri Lanka in Final. The 'Master Blaster' Sachin Tendulkar have also praised Dhoni as the best captain, he played under & also said that his calmness and handling of pressure as incredible.

After winning the ICC Champions Trophy final against England in 2013, Dhoni became the first and only captain to win all the ICC trophies for the country. Under his captaincy, India won 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup & 2013 Champions Trophy.

He is the most successful captain for India in the history so far. Dhoni is also known as 'Captain Cool' for his calmness & handling of the crucial situations so cool. He has captained Indian Test team from 2008-2014 & limited over format from 2007-2016. Under his captaincy, India have won 27 Tests out of 60 Test matches & won 110 ODI out of 200 ODI matches, which is the most win by any Indian captain.

Even in the Indian Premier League, he have led to win IPL trophy 3 times for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise. He is famously called as 'Thala' by his CSK fans & later it became one of the nicknames of Dhoni. 

Dhoni has done great job in his batting & wicket-keeping too. He has so far played 90 Tests, 350 ODIs & 98 T20Is & scored 4,876 runs in Tests, 10,773 runs in ODIs & 1,617 runs in T20Is. As a wicket-keeper, he have dismissed batsman with 634 catches & 195 stumping in International cricket. His 123 stumping dismissal in ODI is also an world record.

MS Dhoni have come through many obstacles, difficult situations & struggles to reach this stage in his life. His life career was made as a biopic movie in Bollywood, in which Sushanth Singh Rajput made his appearance as MS Dhoni in the biopic movie. The movie included every struggles & turning point of MS Dhoni in his life.

Since the World Cup 2019 semi-finals against New Zealand, Dhoni haven't made his appearance in the field. The fans are awaiting to see him on the field and see his comeback.
