Finally the International cricket is resuming today in England, when the team England faces the visitors team West Indies. It is the first Test cricket match nor even the first International cricket match since the out break of coronavirus pandemic. The cricket sport was shut downed for about 3 months & every matches were postponed. So, the cricket fans are excited & eagerly looking forward to watch the live cricket action.
Details about the series
The 3 Test matches will be played at the Ageas bowl in Southampton and Old Trafford in Manchester. The Test series between England & West Indies will be played in a strict isolated environment. There will be repeated COVID-19 testing & social distancing will be maintained. Initially the Test series was scheduled to be played at Oval, Lord's and Edgbaston from June 2020, but due to the outbreak of coronavirus it was postponed to July. For the safety of players & society, the matches will be played at closed doors at the more 'bio secure' Ageas Bowl and Old Trafford. The ground & the surroundings is fully sanitized for the safety of the players. The first match is played at Ageas Bowl & the next two matches will be played back to back at Old Trafford in Manchester.
England & West Indies have played 157 Tests against each other. In that, West Indies have won 57 Tests, whereas England have won 49 & remaining 51 have ended in draw. Though West Indies have won more Tests than England, they didn't win a Test series in England since 1988.
