Stuart Broad reached this milestone on his 140th Test match. It was his 9th wicket in the three-match Test series against West Indies. Now he has 15 wickets in the series, even being left out for the first Test match at Southampton.

Broad became 2nd English men to take 500 wickets, after James Anderson. Surprisingly, James Anderson's 500th Test wicket was also Kraigg Brathwaite in 2017.

The 34-year-old Fast Bowler made his debut for England in 2007 at Colombo with Chaminda Vaas was his first Test wicket. Then after, by his excellent bowling, he made himself as a regular player for the England squad. His Test average was improved since to 28.38 with a best of 8-15 when he rampaged through the Australians at Trent Bridge in the Ashes in 2015. As a batsman, Stuart Broad holds the second most high score in Tests by a number 9 - he scored 169, it is the only century he scored & it was on 2010 against Pakistan.

The list of highest wicket takers in Tests is lead by Muttiah Muralitharan with 800 Test wickets, followed by Shane Warne with 708 wickets & Anil Kumble with 619 wickets.

Though, Stuart Broad is the slowest to reach 500-wicket milestone, he took the important wickets at right time. He made the break through for the team many times. Muttiah Muralidaran reached the 500 wicket milestone in his 87th match and Shane Warne on his 108th match. In seamers, Glenn McGrath leads by achieving the milestone in 110th match, followed by Walsh and Anderson on their 129th Test match respectively. Broad is 4th on the list of all-time highest Test wicket taker by a fast bowler.

On Tuesday, Anderson said about his alongside bowler Broad that,"He's been a real inspiration with the way he was worked over the last years."

"I'm always amazed how he gets going in a spell and just blows teams away. He's in great shape and he can go on and get as many wickets as he wants," he added.
