In the three match Test series, England won the first Test match against Pakistan by 3 wickets. Chris Woakes & Jos Butler's excellent partnership made England to win the match. Pakistan had a higher chances to win the match. But they failed to make it as a win at the end.

First Innings
Pakistan won the toss & elected to bat first in the first Test between England and Pakistan. With the Shaun Masood scoring 156 runs, Pakistan scored 326 in the first innings. England stumbled in the first innings. They were made all out for 219 runs.Second Innings
Pakistan started the 2nd innings with a lead of 107 runs. Pakistan's wickets were fallen quickly as they couldn't able to defend the England's bowling in 2nd innings. With 169 runs added, Pakistan lost all the wickets.
277 Target for England
Following this, England started their innings with a target of 277 runs. Like 1st innings England's top order disappointed the team. At one stage, England lost 5 wickets for 117 runs.
Match winning Partnership
And then the, partnership of Chris Woakes & Jos Butler started. They showed off an excellent performance at the right time of the game. Jos Butler added 75 runs & was dismissed. So at the end, England however won the match by 3 wickets. Chris Woakes was not out, till the end of the match for 84* runs.
Chris Woakes, Man of the Match
Chris Woakes won the Man of the Match award, for his excellent performance in the match. He scored an important knock of 84* runs & also took 4 wickets in the match.
Pakistan had a many positive aspects of winning this match. Until before the partnership of Butler & Woakes, Pakistan had the domination & high chances of winning. Their partnership, took the win from Pakistan's hands.
